Nourish Your Lawn

Once you have spent money and effort to put in a gorgeous lawn, it would be a shame to neglect it.  Along with regular irrigation and maintenance, you will need to consider other things to make sure that your grass remains lush and healthy.  Lawn treatment, in all its manifestations, is crucial to its longevity.

There are a number of lawn products that you can purchase, and apply, to make sure your grass gets the care and attention it needs.  For the tried and true you should start off by looking at a Scotts lawn treatment regimen.  For year-round care and for a variety of needs, Scotts has an appropriate item.

Start of your lawn treatment program with Scotts Turf Builder WinterGuard Fall Lawn Fertilizer.  Fall is the best time to start to focus on the health of the grass.  Proper care will insure that the roots are strong and healthy come spring time.  Similarly, you can use Scotts Feed & Control Weeds product to maintain healthy grass and keep weeds at bay.  Regular use of these lawn products and others by Scotts will help alleviate many lawn repair or lawn weed issues.

Any lawn treatment should include at least the annual use of a lawn aerator.  Many times a listless looking can be completely rejuvenated by a good aeration.  The space left by the removed soil plugs will allow proper air entry and irrigation to give new life to the roots.  Furthermore, the use of an aerator reduces the likelihood of insect infestation.

Occasional use of a dethatcher should be part of most lawn treatment programs.  Over time and through various cuttings, dead grass blades can build up and begin to choke off the root system.  Similar to aeration, dethatching will allow for air flow and water entry directly to the roots, resulting in healthier looking grass.

Regular irrigation, but not saturation is another key to healthy lawn treatment.  And, especially during warmer weather, night or early morning watering will enhance the effectiveness of irrigation.  Again, over watering can cause more problems than it can solve.  Insect and fungus tend to thrive when a lawn has been saturated.

Whatever your lawn treatment program entails, it should encompass some, if not most of the above.  Regular TLC will help protect your landscaping investment and keep your lawn a vibrant green for all to enjoy.
